Hi! How’s everyone doing? :D

So here we have a clip of Jin’s interview. When asked about Kame, Jin isn’t able to come up with a ready answer. He pauses, takes a breath, opens his mouth to start to say something, then takes a moment before actually speaking. And when he speaks, he pauses quite a lot.

Notice the constant eye movements—one second he’s looking to the right and down, then the next to the left and up, then again to the left etc. There are theories about the meanings of certain ‘lateral eye movements’, but it seems that the simple consensus is that these eye movements help us to think and access memories.

Some may interpret Jin’s constant eye movements as being ‘shifty’ and may even say that he is lying (shifty eyes = lying is not always the case btw). But it’s more likely that the eye movements are caused by the difficulty he seems to be having in answering the question.

So what’s the point of all of this? All things considered, Jin appears to really be thinking hard about his answer, which corresponds to Jin’s actual words. So when asked about Kame and he says “I don’t really understand him” or “He is very unpredictable”, we can probably believe Jin and not think that he’s just avoiding the question or evading the issue.

If you want to read more about lateral eye movements, here’s a link to an interesting article over here.

As promised, we’re back right on schedule! :D Without further ado, we present to you a new Akame interaction investigation!

show: Signal PV Making

date: July 2006

We are talking about a mere three (3) second Akame interaction moment here. While preparing for a new take for the Signal PV, this video clip shows Jin fixing a ring on his hand, while Kame is standing beside him holding his phone for him. The phones are prop materials for the PV. As soon as Jin is done, he takes the phone from Kame’s hand wordlessly, and Kame busies himself with his own phone.

This particular interaction doesn’t show much, except perhaps the fact that Kame and Jin, back then and at the very least, were perfectly normal bandmates who were okay with standing beside each other and helping each other out with small things such as holding one’s phone for a moment or two. Their interaction appears relaxed and natural, something that you rarely see in later PV Making videos.

We’re back with a new entry! :D As you may have noticed, updates have been coming quite slow. Well, this is because the team has decided to, uh, revise the schedule of updating the blog. We’re now running updates every other week, because, yeah, real life gets in the way. But real life can’t stop us! LOL. So from now on until further notice we’re going to update this blog every other week, but we hope you guys still enjoy and reblog and comment and whatever shizz because that’s what this is about! :D

Now onto this week’s Akame scenario~

date: 2006

It’s one of those rare moments when Akanishi and Kamenashi are allowed to stand side by side on-stage, although such occurrences were still frequent given that this is from 2006, just a few months after debuting. They hold hands as they bow to the audience after their final encore (Haruka na Yakusoku).

Notice at 00:15 to about 00:17 wherein the other members straighten up from the bow and let go of each other’s hands, but Kame, Ueda, and Jin remain in their position, although Jin is now looking sideways. A literal split second before the camera shifts view, you’d see that Ueda and Kame begin to let go of other’s hand, and when the view changes to front you’d see that Jin and Kame let go as well. Of course, we can’t really be sure who is last to let go of hands because Ueda’s and Kame’s hands were blocked from view by a large uchiwa at the moment that we see Jin and Kame let go of each other’s hands.

And then 00:17 onwards, Jin continues to look sideways, even as he waves to the audience at the front, and as the other members say their goodbyes to the audience, Kame and Jin are the first ones to walk backwards heading toward the backstage, and at 00:18 it kinda convinces you that Jin is actually looking, or rather staring, at Kame, who remains engaged and smiling with the audience all throughout. Notice that Jin’s head is turned sideways and that his shoulders are also slightly angled towards Kame. (It’s interesting to note that in the psychology of attraction, in terms of body language, our body tends to be oriented towards the people we like or are attracted to. It’s said that this is more obvious in males who tend to be more direct and less subtle in showing their ‘attraction,’ for example by turning their face in the direction of someone attractive, while females tend to be more surreptitious by looking at an attractive person through side glances and such.)  Finally, at 00:19, Jin tears his gaze away just before his figure is hidden behind Koki and the camera shifts view.

You’ll have to squint and watch it over and over again, but there you go. :)

Hi guys! This is the video clip from the Making of LIPS we referred to in our post over here. :D

Aaaand as promised, we’re back with a new entry, and… is it still considered the weekend? LOL. Anyhow, our technical problems seem to persist – also we’re one member less on the team right now (azulpapillon is away for a bit) – but we’re of course determined to give you guys something new. Or not so new in the case of this entry. LOL. As aforementioned, we’re having problems with video editing and uploading at the moment, so instead here is a post of the screencaps for this particular Akame interaction we’re dealing with this time though the caps are rather bad too. OTL Don’t worry, we’re gonna try and upload a proper video clip for this entry very soon. ;) So for now, go and get your old, dusty copies of Lips PV making. After re-watching the making and enjoying the baka-ness of KAT-TUN, we focus on this part  where Jin and Kame “talked” – skip over to this part near the end!

subber: newshfan (subs not spoken by either Akanishi or Kamenashi are omitted)

The scene starts out with Kame, alone, focusing his camera on the set. (Cap 1 & 2) The next camera angle is also the start of Akanishi chatting Kame up, asking if the camera model Kame had was the same as that of Yokoyama-kun, which could be Yokoyama Yu of Kanjani8. Kame replies with a muted “Un.” (Cap 3 to 6) Then Jin says “It’s a really good one, right?” to which Kame replies another flat “Un,” (not included in subs) never taking his eyes off the camera (Cap 8 & 9), even as, after speaking, Jin gets up from his chair and bends over Kame, peering over Kame’s shoulder to look at the camera.

Even as Jin does this, notice the safe distance Jin maintains between himself and Kame’s shoulder. (Cap 10 to 13) Jin then says “It looks good,” to which Kame now replies a barely audible “Un.” (Cap 13) Jin sits back down on his chair but remains looking at Kame, seemingly making a last attempt at a conversation by saying “That camera’s cool. You can take great shots with it,” even pointing at the camera, which again goes unseen by Kame, who never does look at Akanishi all throughout. (Cap 15 & 16)

Notice that when Akanishi says “You can take great shots with it,” he is already looking away from Kame.  In between Akanishi’s speech, though, between “That camera’s cool,” and “You can take great shots with it,” you’d hear someone say “Kame-chan” in the background which causes Kame to finally raise his head. (Cap 17 & 18) The speaker is probably a member of the staff calling Kame, because after this scene comes Kame’s shoot for the bubbling-mic part of the PV. The next scene (not screencapped) shows Kame discussing how to go about the PV scene he’s filming next, apparently in a perfectly normal mood, even singing a bit.

Stuff. LOL

Hi there!

Superhero0008 here. In behalf of the Whats Up with Akame team, I’d like to apologize for that semi-hiatus we took. Lol. It’s just that real life has been getting in the way a lot lately. Cascadingmerrygoround and myself are busy with our respective job hunts, while azulpapillon is now going to med school. (I hope she doesn’t mind me saying it here because I’m just so proud of her lol) That being said, we’re aiming for a new entry perhaps this coming weekend, so watch out for that. Meanwhile, I’ve gotten to organize our posts so far in this Video List, which is also accessible through the sidebar. All the entries, as well as the future entries we’ll be posting, will all be listed there in chronological order, for your flailing convenience! :D

And while we haven’t got a new entry yet, might I tempt you to check out this fic the three of us are also working on: Without You is How I Disappear (NC-17; Akame/MaruDa/RyoDa). As with the blog, we also took a semi-hiatus with the fic, but we’re also bound to update it this week. So there. See you guys later this week! :D

Video List

Yay! We’re back with a new entry! :D

show: KAT-TUN Live: Break the Records

date: 2009

This clip was ripped from the Break the Records DVD and shows the MC part wherein they picked out winners for the stuff they were giving out, and Jin somehow picked the seat number with all 4’s on it.

The scene starts off with Taguchi and Ueda running over to where Jin is to check the stub out. Kame doesn’t move immediately, and only seems to follow them when he sees he’s been left behind. Then, he walks over and appears to hesitate before going to Jin, “hiding” behind Ueda for a moment. “Hiding,” because the path toward Jin was clear and Ueda was not actually blocking the way. As Kame asks Jin to show the stub (quite wordlessly at that), he barely touches Jin’s arm as he taps it.

Now the video quality on here sucks (lol) but try to check out other video sources (or your own copies if you have the DVD) for the same scene and observe how when they are near each other, their expressions are somewhat blank and/or controlled. (Superhero0008’s note: We all know how Kame can sometimes overdo his laugh or other reactions, right? Well, in this one…?) And then, when Kame is finally shown the stub, he immediately puts distance between them again. (Azulpapillon’s note: He may have been thinking of blocking? LOL) During the whole scenario, notice that they never look at each other directly in the eyes. Jin never looks at Kame directly, and yet Jin looks at Maru, and even at Ueda fleetingly. Kame, on the other hand, keeps his eyes down as he turns around and only lifts his gaze when he is already facing Ueda.

oOo

In a totally unrelated note (lol), thank you so much for following this blog! We encourage you to reblog and share the posts because hey, it’s all fun! :D

ermm... sorry if it looks like I'm complaining but for your latest post the video is private, so I can't see it. can you please un-private it or something? I would love to see the post properly so i can "speculate about akame" ;). anyway, ganbatte with your blog!

hi! the video is now available for public viewing. thank you for calling our attention about that detail!

Hi! And we’re back with another entry! Again, we’d like to remind everyone that we don’t aim to prove anything with our posts, we’re just describing their relationship. We hope everyone enjoys this entry. Let’s all have fun speculating about AKame! See you again next week! ;D

Member introductions are almost always scripted and the same goes for Jin and Kame. They are introduced according to the script, and mostly these introductions describe general qualities that each member has, not including if someone was another’s “friend.”

This video clip instance goes as something different, however.  It is significant that Kame specifically mentioned that Jin was not just a friend but his best friend. The fact that Kame went out of the usual way to introduce Jin with words such “He’s my best friend, Jin”, shines a light on the possibility that such introduction may not be scripted and that, possibly, Kame made it up on the spot.
